We have some awards for you!
First up, the Obsidian Fleet Service Citation, which is awarded to all players who have been on the Portland for six months -- Alenis Meru, Timothy Rouse, Tyrlai Zade, Jason Beauvoir, and Arvel Darze.
Award Description: Awarded to a member of the crew who has served with the ship for at least 6 months. This award is non-cumulative.
Reason for Nomination: In recognition of six months of service on the USS Portland
The Non-Player Character Award goes to Timothy Rouse for his portrayal of various NPCs, including Ellen Washington and Judith Rouse
Award Description:
For the development of Non-Player Characters. The lives of our characters are in a setting populated by countless other people who are important to our featured individuals. This award marks the achievement of a player for his/her development of engaging, detailed NPCs who add realism and dimension to the simm.
Reason for Nomination: For the creation and successful portrayal of various NPCs whose presence has added greatly to the USS Portland, such as Ellen Washington and Judith Rouse.
The DeForest Kelley Humour Award goes to Brad Silverton and Tyrlai Zade
Award Descripton:
This award is meant to help us all remember that a bit of light-heartedness goes a long way; even in the face of danger. DeForest Kelley was as much a comedian as he was an actor of the 20th century. Therefore, this is as much a tribute to him as it is an award to any recipient. This award can be given to any player in Obsidian Fleet.
Reasons for Nomination:
Brad: For his portrayal of a doctor assigned the unenviable task of trying to figure out how to resolve the science officer's pon farr , including doing some severe damage to the fourth wall.
Tyrlai: Tyrlai is always an entertaining character, constantly cracking jokes and getting into trouble. Tyrlai's posts are a joy to read
The Technical Medal goes to Brad Silverton, Parket Hudson, and Jita Kejal
Award Description: Awarded to the crewmember who follows the technical standards of the Star Trek universe, incorporating them into their posts with nearly flawless precision.
Reason for Nomination: For their work on reprogramming the EMH to create a holographic representation of the captain, for rather naughty purposes. It is a rather unique project, and they nailed the technical descriptions.
As it has been over two months since our last round of awards, we have two winners for the Meritorious Newcomer of the Month award: Jita Kejal and Sera Williams
Award Description:
This award will be given to the newcomer who makes themselves known and puts in the most effort to make their character a valuable addition.
Reasons for Nomination:
Jita: For jumping right in and not only getting Jita right into the thick of things, but also creating an interesting plot NPC and advancing the story.
Sera: The writer behind Sera has shown a lot of potential in his short time on the Portland so far, making Sera a consistently well-written character.
In accordance with the result of the poll, the Crew's Choice award goes to Brad Silverton
Award Description: Voted on by the crew of the simm in question.
Reason for Nomination: For winning the "Crew's Choice" poll in November, 2014
Finally, we have a promotion to announce. Last week, I was informed by our Task Group CO and Task Force CO that Alenis Meru is being promoted to the rank of Captain. My thanks go out to all my wonderful crew -- I only look as good as you make me, so this promotion is as much a reflection on you as it is on me.
In-character, Alenis will remain as a Commander for the time being, and this promotion will go into effect once we wrap up this mission and have a chance to talk to the Admiral.
Congratulations to all the winners! We'll be doing another round around Christmas, or when we wrap up this mission (as well as considering promotions). And feel free to brag and put your awards in your signature!
