Attention all crew of the USS Portland
As the GM of the USS Portland, I constantly strive to bring you a new and unique experience. Over the past year I think we have been successful at that. However, given the large amount of Star Trek simms on the internet, I think it’s time we did something truly unique.
That is why today, I’ve made the decision to relaunch the USS Portland as Moonbase Alpha. Moonbase Alpha will be the only Space:1999 simm on the internet, and I believe that by separating us from the pack, it will allow us to appeal to fans of mid-70s British sci-fi television serieses, and generate more interest in our concept.
I will be taking on the role first popularized by Martin Landau as Commander John Koenig. While you may continue playing your current characters, I would encourage you to try out the many memorable canon characters that the Space:1999 universe has to offer such as Dr. Helena Russell or Maya (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKiIYvWIUj0)
Also, I would like to officially declare the theme of the first season of Space:1999 to be our official theme song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WZW4groJro)
It is my hope that by turning the page on the USS Portland, that this simm is dawning on a bright new chapter in our existence. Let us let this April 1st be the dawn of a new era together!
