Name: Jackson Mallory
Rank: Ensign
Position: Chief of Flight Control, USS Portland
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: July 23, 2347 (age 44)
Place of Birth: Greely, Colorado, Earth
Description:
Jackson Mallory’s appearance can best be described as...ordinary. He is average height, slightly stocky, and has grey creeping into his red beard and what’s left of his hair. Always appears rumpled and unkempt, with uniform and appearance just barely within regulations.
Personality and Interests:
While bright and quick thinking, Jackson is prone to easy boredom. This translates into a general lack of preparation and attention to detail.
Seems to always meet the minimum requirements of any task, doing just enough that it’s hard to articulate exactly why you find him disappointing. Rarely fails spectacularly, but always leaves others expecting more.
Overall presents an unremarkable image, and other officers may find it hard to place any confidence in him.
See post “Welcome Aboard Jackson Mallory” on “The Lower Decks” for more details on Jackson.
Biography:
2365: After an unremarkable school career, Jackson joined Starfleet as an enlisted troop, and was posted to the USS Magellan as a weapon system tech on her last tour of service.
2368: After a few years on station, Jackson achieved the rank of Crewman. During a routine test, the primary phaser coil overloaded and Jackson was instrumental in averting disaster (details TBD). Jackson was given a citation and field promotion to Petty Officer 2nd class.
2370: 2 years later, while posted to Science Station 402, Jackson once again helped save the day during the Gallister Incident (details TBD). Due to his quick thinking during the crisis, the station commander recommended Jackson for Starfleet Academy.
2375: After 5 years at the academy, Jackson finally graduated - barely - and his long career as an ensign started.
2375-2386: 11 years of unremarkable duty - details TBD.
2386-2391: 5 years aboard the USS Bannockburn. Serving in a variety of positions.
Out of Character:
Feel free to use Jackson as a foil for the story. Please remember that his failures don’t come from a lack of intelligence or skill, but from a lack of attention to detail and preparation.
