So, I've got a bit of a background for mission two written up. It's a diplomatic mission where there is a lost tribe of Bajorans who left Bajor centuries ago on lightships. They landed on a planet which just so happens in the modern day to be in a strategically important area near the Federation-Cardassian border. They've now appealed to the Federation (of which Bajor has been a member since the end of the Dominion War) for assistance. Our mission will be twofold: to reconnect this lost tribe with Bajor, and to establish a Federation presence in the system.

Quick note: normally, I like to encourage people to have a bit more input into missions, and we'll be doing that from now on. I just had to come up with a mission for my CO academy course and this is what I came up with. In the future, we can come up with the missions collaboratively and vote on them or something.

Schedule:

MD0 - The Banquet (Mission 2)
MD1 - Leaving DS9
MD2 - Travel to Gamia III
MD3 - Travel to Gamia III
MD4 - Arrival at Gamia III, landing on the planet and first meeting with the Gamians, work on the hologram
MD5 - Cardassians arrive at Gamia III, continued work on the hologram, Jason escapes from brig
MD6 -

I don't think I have too much set in stone. I do have some ideas for complications under my hat, though not all may end up being used.

(Possible spoilers - highlight to read, if you are so inclined):

- Gamians are a very conservative religious society, which may conflict with the more secular Federation and challenge negotiations
- A food crisis and the possibility of civil unrest is what caused the Gamians to contact the Federation, and the civil unrest could get worse
- Gamians still use d'jarras, and the diplomats sent by Bajor don't have high enough d'jarras to command the respect necessary to do official negotiations. But, the two Bajorans on the ship might (Coln Jena and Alenis Meru)
- Cardassians show up and are also interested in the planet; as Gamia III was never occupied, these Bajorans don't have the negative feelings towards Cardassians as the rest.
- A Big Reveal at the end that turns everything on its head!

Here's the official mission description:

After returning the Tolic shard to its rightful owners, the Bajoran people, the USS Portland is tasked with handling a delicate diplomatic matter.

A lost tribe of Bajorans has been discovered on the strategically important planet of Gamia III. The USS Portland is assigned the job of escorting Bajoran diplomats to Gamia III with the goal of bringing the Gamians back into the fold. However, the Bajorans and the Federation are not the only people interested in the Gamia system, and not all is as it seems on the third planet...

Also: I promise the next mission won't be Bajorans again, unless that's what you really want!

Yes. All in-character posts take place in one of two places:

If it is in the mission timeline, it falls under "The Bridge" as a reply to the current mission post. All posts within a mission go under the same thread.

If it is something out of the timeline of a mission and not part of the mission such as a side-plot or a flashback to the academy, it falls under "The Lower Decks" where you are free to create a thread.

For JPs, once those are finished, one of the participants copies them into either the mission thread or the lower decks as appropriate, and a moderator will delete the thread in the workshop.

Just to explain. In this mission Judith Rouse will be on board as a Security adviser. She is a Marine and therefor wears the green version of the uniform and holds the rank of Captain. If you want to know why she is a Marine, but not directly serving with the Marines, take a look at her bio.

I also did some searching on the rank and found this. It's also displayed in her bio.

"As the CO of a vessel is called Captain, and there can only be one Captain, Judith will be called Major, one rank higher, even though she officially still holds the rank of Captain. When it comes to outranking, she has the same privileges as other full Lieutenants, except that she is not a Senior Officer. Senior Officer Lt's outrank her."

The Marine Rank is the third officer rank, and therefor can be compared to full Lieutenant.

Jason Beauvoir: It didn't make much sense that the Voyager crew couldn't make more torpedoes, after all the created a new shuttle (the Delta Flyer) as well as as some new probes, that weren't on board in the beginning. Apr 2, 2015 2:41:40 GMT
